Winemaker Dave Reilly: “I LOVE my job!”

Grape harvest and vinification are in full swing at the Duchman Family Winery.

Where most winemakers and “cellar rats” would be complaining about the long hours — literally around the clock — and the lack of sleep, winemaker Dave Reilly (who spends every night at the winery during this crucial moment in the winery’s yearly cycle) has been posting regular updates on his Facebook and the winery’s Facebook.

“I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!” he wrote in a post yesterday: “Sangiovese from Reddy Vineyard arrived this morning along with another 6.5 tons of Dolcetto from the Binghams. 2012 has really got the makings for a record setter for both quality and quality! I am thinking there might be a little bit of rosè made here today (dry of course). Beautiful!!!”
